We are particularly concerned that all members come each week in correct dress. There will be a List available of the correct wear for each section. in Hall. Requests for uniform items to Section Leaders, and Payments to Treasurer via Office Tray.

Special Appeal
We are asked to Appeal for BLOOD DONORS - If you get this before Thursday 2 Sept, and can donate, there is a Session at The Grange.

Mile of Pennies Sat 9 Oct 2009 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.
This has become a very successful fund-raising event arranged each year by Bob Jones, from which we gained over £200 last year. We have many friends who save their small change all year for it. All members please be there for as much of the time as you can, in smart uniform. We expect to serve refreshments to our visitors, supporters and collectors as well.

We need help from Staff and Parents for supervision on the road. Please wear the yellow safety jackets which are in the Office, when on duty.

Christmas Pantomime at The Grange Sat 18 Dec 2010 2.30 pm
The village pantomime was enjoyed by our members last year and the Officers have decided to take our members again this year. We are grateful to Lesley Hutt for arranging this Christmas Treat. There will be forms in the Hall which you can use to claim free tickets for enrolled members, You can also buy Parent/family tickets through Lesley if you wish to join this outing. NOTE Please Apply EARLY, as tickets are limited for this matinee Performance.

Please note: ENROLMENT SERVICE
Parade to St Marys at 9.40 am Sunday 19 SEPTEMBER – All Members and Parents invited.. Keep this date!

Parents And Friends Association
The PFA has been a strength of our BB for many years, and normally organises about three fund-raising events during the year. If the PFA is active, our volunteer Leadership can then direct their efforts to work with members, and not worry so much about Fund-raising. Together with the Mile of Pennies, some grants we can get, and the money raised by PFA, our funds should cover both running expenses and maintenance. This then means that your subscriptions can be allocated to the Sections for their work. As a guide, the idea is to allocate this money according to numbers of Members so all get fair shares.

This does depend on the PFA getting your support. We need a few active Parents to help to plan, and full support from everyone when there is an event. Please help, it makes such a difference.

Ted Ward

Call for Help

The following appeal is being made in St Mary’s Church.......

The AA and BB are the main St Mary’s youth groups for young people in Radcliffe,
and the various age groups meet every evening of the week in the BB Hall. In
addition to the obvious activities, the bands, indoor games, crafts, etc., our
Leaders try to interest the members in hobbies, music, art work etc. If you have
an interesting hobby which you are prepared to share with a small group of Boys
or Girls, even for an hour a week, even for a limited period, please offer your
help.

The AA and BB are the chosen youth work for our Church, and they
have a Christian basis not evident in some other local youth groups. They are
open groups, but were intended originally for the children of Church Members.
Please encourage your own children to join, so that their membership is from
Church-going families.

Adults in the Church who feel that they can offer leadership should contact Ted Ward in the first instance, Bob Jones or any Officer or Leader.

We extend this invitation also to any AA or BB Parent who can offer time to teach our members a hobby or skill. Note to Parents.
Many thanks to all Parents who responded promptly by returning Consent Forms. These are now kept in a new file in the Office. The challenge this year is to take over £450 – people in Radcliffe are very generous to us. We ask all members to be there for as much of the time as you can, in smart uniform. Help from Staff and Parents for supervision on the road, please. Join the big count at 12.30!

VISITOR TO AA – Mr David Keetley, BB Development Officer.
Mr Keetley was recently appointed Development Officer for Nottingham and Leicester, and will be visiting all Companies. We expect him to visit our AA Meeting on 21 October to see the normal programme on that evening. He is interested to see how we have adapted BB activities to the needs of Girls.

CRB CHECKS ON PARENTS AND OTHERS
The new proposed legislation has caused great concern among some Staff and Parents, and this has certainly not been helped by appalling events appearing in news bulletins. Our Vicar and Chaplain are aware of our concerns, and we await definitive advice from the Youth Adviser. When action is needed, I will take it, and I will avoid any precipitate action until the whole issue has been cleared.

GIFT OF CAMPING EQUIPMENT
We are grateful to Mr and Mrs Brian Hollis for the gift of serviceable camping equipment.

ADVANCE NOTICES –

PANTOMIME – Our members are invited to take part in the Bingham Operatic Pantomime in Feb Half Term 2010. Please make special efforts to be there on these occasions.

A past camp
